Capital improvement plan software: plan, fund and track capital projects
Capital Projects Budget is a capital improvement plan (CIP) system: you plan and fund capital projects such as roads, parks and utilities by funding source across prior actuals, the adopted year and five proposed years, then track each project's spending against its adopted amount month by month. Budget transfers are requested in the system, and the standard CIP reports export to Excel. Open the live demo's dashboard and programs on a fictional county's data, with no sign-up.
What a multi-year CIP holds
Programs, each with its description, department, program type, facility address and the districts it serves; the projects associated with each program; each project's funding by source; and its figures by year: prior actuals, the adopted year and five proposed years.
Tracking spending against the adopted amount
Each project shows its adopted amount, its forecast and its proposed figures for the coming years, and its spending is tracked against the adopted amount month by month.
Budget transfers
A budget transfer, such as moving $10,000 from one project to another, is requested in the system rather than by email.
CIP reports you can export
Four standard reports, each downloaded as an Excel workbook (.xlsx):
- All Capital Projects
- Capital Expenditure Report
- Project Detail Report
- Totals by Program

What the demo shows
With no sign-up, the demo opens the Dashboard and the Programs Fiscal Year Overview of a fictional county, Aldermoor County: expand a program to see its details and associated projects. Subscribe with your email address to try the full demo for a limited time, including uploading your own CIP workbook as the data source. In the full demo you can also ask the AI Assistant questions about the plan; it answers from the plan's own records, reads the data and never changes a record.
